Founded in 1987, Aid to Distressed Families of Appalachian Counties (ADFAC) is a community-based United Way agency working to address the diverse needs of low-income families in East Tennessee.

Serving over 6,000 individuals each year, ADFAC’s mission is to help local impoverished families become stable and self-sufficient through a variety of direct assistance and educational programs.

A summer tradition since 1989: ADFAC's School Supplies program

This year, nearly 1,400 low-income students across Anderson County and Oak Ridge will receive back-to-school supplies such as backpacks, paper, glue sticks, pencils & scissors.
